Made from a drug called Botulinum Toxin, BOTOX® injections relax the facial muscles responsible for causing wrinkles.
With carefully targeted injections, this can subtly smooth and soften the skin, restoring a youthful complexion. Commonly treated areas include forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet lines around the eyes and the vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).
The effects of BOTOX® are usually first noticed 10-14 days after injection and can be expected to last about 3 to 4 months. The injections themselves are performed using a tiny needle and cause minimal discomfort. It is not uncommon to experience slight swelling, redness or bruising after an injection, but this usually soon settles. Approximately 1-3% experience a “droopy eyelid”, however, this can be corrected or will improve with time.
